Accidental Muse

After about ten hours of work and experimenting with a whole new medium, I am happy to present to the world my newest piece: Accidental Muse.

Accidental Muse, Julius Miller, 2020

This piece is undoubtedly my most personal one yet, as it recalls a dream I had about a month and a half ago. A goddess figure, highlighted by red lips and red earrings, came to me in a dream. She kissed my forehead and told me not to “fall in love too easily”. Although the dream showed little relevancy at the time, it stuck with me. In particular, the image more than the message. In this work I try to portray the scenario from that dream that simply never escaped me.

As per mentioned before, it took about ten hours to complete this piece across five days. I would take a couple hours each day to sit down and assemble everything. I highly recommend working in intervals like this, otherwise you may begin to feel a distaste for your own project. All in all, this was an incredible challenge as I do not often collage. It feels lovely to have set out with an intent to create this specific idea and actually follow through.
